MEDITERRANEAN EPIC STAGE 1: TOP 5 FOR WOUT ALLEMAN

The 2022 season officially kicked off for the new Wilier Triestina - Pirelli Factory Team at the famous Mediterranean Epic.

A first stage that immediately highlighted the racers with a beautiful 4th place for Wout Alleman.

This first stage included a time trial of 19 km, from Torre del Rey arriving at the antennas of Oropesa. A fast and hilly first part followed by a long uphill with technical and triky sections where the riders were able to make the most of the excellent grip given by the combination of the suspension of the Wilier Triestina URTA SLR and Pirelli Scorpion XC RC tires.

On the finish line, Wout Alleman set the 4th best time, a sign that the Belgian champion is already in excellent shape, but also feeling great on his new Wilier Triestina bike.

Top 10 also for Daniel Geismayr who closes in 8th place, while Fabian Rabensteiner finished the day in 18th and Samuele Porro 37th position.

"Today was a short and intense effort, it was very tough. The first race of the season is always difficult, but as a team we are very satisfied because we had good sensations. I ended in 4th place just 38" from the leader so I am very happy with the result. Tomorrow the longest stages begin, those where our marathon pedigree will be able to express itself at its best. We are however all very close to the top of the standings, this means that there will be battle in the next stages "- Wout Alleman.

Stage 2: 58km, 1.700m D+ / Castellon-Castellon
